Dr. Scott Aaronson is a thought leader in the areas of biological psychiatry, diagnosis, and the integration of somatic and psychological therapies. He is an adjunct professor of psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and a distinguished life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He graduated with honors from Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Aaronson is the Chief Science Officer for the Institute for Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics at Sheppard Pratt. He has been involved in the development of new strategies to alleviate symptoms in treatment-resistant mood disorders, and has completed several supported, investigator-initiated studies to determine the safety and efficacy of psilocybin in severely treatment-resistant depression. He is the lead editor of the APA Press book on psychedelics, due for publication in the summer of 2026.
