Many areas in human health are underfunded and under explored because they lack mainstream support. Centralized players such as government agencies and academic publishers have long had an outsized role in shaping scientific and medical progress. One could argue the ever increasing costs and time of developing new therapies is a failure of centralization. In the last few years this is starting to change in part due to new movements such as decentralized science “DeSci”. DeSci involves decentralized communities built on blockchains advancing new technologies. Dr. Peterson will introduce how DeSci communities, such as VitaDAO, are making progress in longevity and other historically overlooked scientific and medical areas.
